UNLEASHED,
Poems by Writers' Dogs.
Edited by Amy Hempel and Jim Shepard. Review by Ann Brodie
A little paperback with pictures of the writing dogs and sometimes their
masters. The articles are divided into subjects as letters, rescue,
theology, etc. Human authors (translators) run from Edward Albee to
William Wegman. One of my favorites is Jazz describing the daily mailman
delivery experience entitled "Stalker." |

Jumping
From A to Z: Teach Your Dog to Soar by M. Christine Zink
Review by Karen Seydel
Just finished reading a book called
"Jumping from A to Z" by M. Christine Zink and Julie
Daniels. Obviously I had not even the beginnings of an idea of
all the things that go into a dog jumping. It as fascinating
reading and I recommend it to anybody who is doing ANY jumping with
their dogs. |

Dogs
For Dummies - a Reference for the Rest of Us,
by Gina Spadafori. Review by Rena David
I highly recommend this book for people looking for a dog, novice dog owners,
dog owners who have not had a puppy for quite a while and also experienced
dog owners. When writing about the terrier group, the first paragraph states
- "Talk about moxie! These dogs, developed to go mano a mano with all
manners of vermin have the quality commonly associated with New Yorkers: They
know what they want, they're not shy about going for it, and they don't
look charitably on those who get in their way." AN APT
DESCRIPTION. |

The Consumers Guide to Dog Food by Liz
Palika.
Review by Theresa Stefancik
She explains the
package labels in details, what exactly "by-products" mean,
quality, comparisions and also what you don't want to see on the label of
your brand of dog food and why. ie: ethoxyquin. There are also good chapters
on how to chose a dog food, natural diets and herbs. |

Earthdog Ins & Outs by Jo Ann Frier-Murza. Review by
Sharon Howse
The book is very well done,
and it is obvious that a lot of research was put into this book. The book
gives a good description of all the breeds that are eligible to compete in
Earthdog Trials. I would highly recommend this book even if you and your dog
aren't competing in Earthdog Trials. |

Dog
Problems by Carol Benjamin. Review by Lynda Hammel
I highly recommend the book, "Dog Problems" by Carol Benjamin.
The publisher is Howell. I have heard that all of the Carol Lea
Benjamin books are excellent. She also has a book geared toward rescue
called "The Second Hand Dog". |

Little
Dog Poems by Kristine
O'Connell George, June
Otani
Review by Jeanie Goodhope
I ran across a cute little children's book
called "Little Dog Poems" by Kristine George and illustrated by June
Otani. The poems are brief
little episodes in the dog,s day and the illustrations are simple watercolor and ink sketches. The dog is a
terrier....lookes like a cairn
with a blown coat (or just ears that need trimming). I found the little episodes very like a cairn...and very nice.
